It was interesting to see these two rivals to the Crows battle it out against one another. As we have already played St Ives at their ground and attained the points it was an opportunity to assess their progress since then.As for Ware although I have seen them play last season I thought it would be an ideal chance to see them perform before we face them in our upcoming league match.
The game started at a fast pace and really continued like that for the whole match. Both sides in my opinion cancelled one another out in certain areas but what was noticeable was the pace and ball control on both flanks by the two Ware wide players, and throughout the game they interchanged well and gave the St Ives defence lots of problems.Their good work, however, was wasted by a lack of decent support from the strike force.
St Ives took the lead in the first half when an innocuous long ball was played up field the centre back under no pressure tried to head the ball clear but it skimmed of the top of his head and over the keeper and into the net.It has to be said that the young keeper should have called for the ball to be left for him to collect.Truly a lack of experience.
The second half was much the same as the first but with Ware having the majority of the play.Eventually this paid of with a scrambled goal for the home side in the last few minutes of the game.
In conclusion these two teams cancelled one another out in many areas and a draw was a fair result.I did not see too much that should trouble the Crows as long as they can contain the wide players and control the pace of the game.On balance we have a more effective strike force than either of these sides and it will by interesting to see how these confrontations pan out.
