Royston secured victory today, but against a hanwell side that in my opinion were a weak opposition. It should be seen as a good result as three points is always good. But it still raises questions for the rest of the season as this huff and puff display. With all the younger members in the squad dropped to the bench, it meant the senior players had the chance to show what they are capable of. But Hanwell town should of had at least two goals, and it must be said due to the poor touches from their attackers made it easier for the royston goal keeper to take the ball. The reality is the defence still looked rocky at best and the lack of runs from the forward line is limiting chances for the crows. It is my humble opinion that some players are being selected for either past glories or more political motives. I do feel with the right selections and a more football minded approach, involving keeping the ball on the ground and using football to play through the opposition as was done in pre-season then more positive results will come. But if these issues are not addressed then my confidence for play off football is slipping. I will be pleased to hear from other crows fans to hear their opinions.

I understand what you are saying Chris and I can assure you that their are many people around the ground that do not contribute to the forum but who share this point of view. Most of these people remember the kind of football that we used to play two seasons ago and are bemused by the change in such a short period of time.Of course it is early in the season and the standard of overall performance may change, but it is notable that a side that lost out in the play-offs last season seem ,at best,to be playing like a middle of the table average side. Perhaps we were deluding ourselves as I feel that apart from Kettering the league itself was not of the standard of previous seasons and Bedworth, for example, are struggling at the higher level. Let's see what happens as the season progresses when we come up against the higher placed teams in the league. However,I do think some changes may be needed in certain areas of the team as I have previously pointed out if we are going to achieve anything this year.
