The Crows notched up their second win of the season by beating St Ives 3-0.It was quite a fast paced game which had it's feisty moments befitting what is essentially a local Derby.Overall Royston deserved this win with pressure by Mason and Ingrey and especially Hoeness causing all sorts of problems in the St Ives defence.St Ives,in fact, practically committed suicide with some reckless tackling in crucial areas of defence which resulted in two of the goals. The first goal which came after a free kick was scrambled away for a corner and from the resulting said corner being taken the ball found McDevitt unmarked who headed solidly into the back of the next.
The second goal again came from a free kick just outside the area this resulted in an excellent cross finding Mason unmarked who calmly put the ball in the back of the net.
The second half continued in much the same vein with Robbins coming on as substitute to score the the third goal that settled the match.
It has to be said that St Ives certainly had their moments and the result could have been different if they had capitalised on the chances they created, they were also thwarted by some good shot stopping from Yates in the Royston goal.
So 3 more points in the bag but the Crows still have some work to do ,especially in defence where they are prone to being exploited by pacey forwards and aggressive strikers.
Also some creativity still needed in midfield, but hopefully this will come in the following weeks.
Footnote I would grateful to hear how our previous season signing Chris Dillon is doing, really we likely to see him play before the and of the year?
